I am looking for someone to help create a new plugin. I need to figure out what the approximate cost would be to have this help. All work needs to be sufficient quality to contribute back to ITFlow.

Enhancing the core Assets module is acceptable only if the required functionality cannot be implemented cleanly as a plugin. I feel a branch of the Github repo is less useful then a plugin that can be optionally added to another install.

Scope of Work

1. Separate Asset Number Field

Add a dedicated Asset Number / Asset Tag field that is separate from the existing combined field (“Asset name or asset tag”).

2. Asset Number Uniqueness Validation

The Asset Number field must include a “Verify Unique” action.
Uniqueness validation must respect the asset numbering rule set assigned to the customer (see Item 4 below).

3. Asset Tag Generation

Provide a “Generate Asset Tag” option that assigns the next available number from the applicable rule set.
Asset tags must be generated from a defined and configurable sequence or table.

4. Asset Number / Asset Tag Rules

(Rule-Set–Scoped Uniqueness)

The system must support two distinct asset numbering rule sets. Each customer is assigned exactly one of these rule sets.

Rule Set 1: Global Asset Number Rules

Customers assigned to the Global Asset Number rule set share a single, installation-wide numbering pool.
Asset numbers must be unique across all customers using the Global rule set.
No duplication is permitted among customers adhering to this rule set.

Rule Set 2: Individualized Asset Number Rules

Customers assigned to Individualized Asset Number rules use a customer-specific numbering pool.
For customers using Individualized rules:
- Asset numbers must be unique only within that customer.
- Asset numbers may duplicate:
- Numbers used by other customers with Individualized rules
- Numbers used in the Global Asset Number rule set
No cross-validation is performed between Individualized pools and Global pools.

Customer Configuration

Each customer must be explicitly configured to use either:
- the Global Asset Number rule set, or
- Individualized Asset Number rules
A customer may not use both simultaneously.

Current example:

Global asset numbers: 00001–00846
Customer-specific asset numbers such as: 1–920, optionally using a configurable prefix (e.g., AXIS-####).

Summary:
Asset number uniqueness is enforced within the assigned rule set.
Customers using the Global Asset Number rule set share a single, non-overlapping numbering pool.
Customers using Individualized rules may overlap with other customers and/or the Global pool; however, duplicates are never permitted within the same customer.

5. Custom Fields (Per-Customer Configuration)

The system must support custom asset fields configured per customer.
For each customer, custom fields must be assignable as:
- Customer-wide (applies to all assets for that customer), or
- Asset-type specific (applies only to selected device/asset types)
Custom fields defined for one customer must not appear for other customers unless explicitly configured.

6. Free-Text Entry with Auto-Creation of Related Records

Currently, several fields rely exclusively on selecting existing records, which creates workflow issues. We would like to add typed entry with automatic record creation in the following areas:

Network Tab inside of the current Assets module for example

Allow either selecting an existing Network or typing a new value.
If a new value is entered, it should automatically create a new record in the Networks module.

Assignment Tab (as above)

Allow typing a new Location name.
This should create a corresponding record in the Locations module using the entered values.

Purchase Tab (as above)

Allow typing a new Vendor name.
This should create a new Vendor in the Vendors module.

This behavior should be consistent across all applicable tabs.

I really hope I have captured everything here. Also, if this plug in has been created already and I missed it, I am very sorry. I hate wasting peoples time.
