Try forcing the import as the database already exists. Alternatively adjust the export to just be the data instead of the table creation as well.

could not get backup database to import in new instance. I exported data from old as csv and imported in new instance and all clients are now listed and showing up but no other data. any other suggestions?

would hope that road map eventually there will be a backup and restore procedure that is not so cumbersome and you can more easily recover from a OS or other more drastic failure.

i had similar issue but it was easier ( before import function was added) using phpMyAdmin and backup individual tables like tickets, clients, users , etc. and the as mention by @wrongecho to force when importing so that it will overwrite current tables

you were backing up individual tables via phpadmin and then restoring them one at a time?

Correct, i know is probably not ideal and took longer than expected to get the info back but technically I installed phpMyAdmin on both systems. In the original I backed up the specific table I wanted and then restore by forcing the data in the new system.
but you should be able to use the new import function just fine

ok can confirm this works, here is what I had to do.

phpmyadmin installed on old and new
on old click on table you want to export click export
select custom
go to Format-specific options:
change "structure and data" to "data" only
click export.

on new system once in phpmyadmin select table you are importing i.e. "quotes" then click import and select file you exported from old system and click import. data is imported correctly and shows up in dashboard.

definitely cumbesome this way but at least data is there once done. Obviously this only works if you still have access to old system.

Glad you got it working anyway! You didn't necessarily need access to the old database specifically to make this work - you could've imported the data into any database that didn't have the ITFlow tables already in and then re-exported as data only, as you only wanted the schema from the new install.

Thanks all for the help and pointing me in the right direction. I now have a better understanding of how the DB works, etc.

For recovery in the future. when you setup a new instance and use the script to get environment setup etc. and it creates new DB with the tables. Is the best option to create a seperate database to restore .sql backup file and then export data only and then import into iflow database. Is there a better method to backup itflow database and restore?

When you go to do a recovery or restore of your backed up DB either over the top or just the data then you would always have to go through the extra step of restoring data to blank db and then exporting just data?

Your case was a little odd as you were somehow missing tables you should have had. I wouldn't recommend installing a new instance and trying to restore over the top ordinarily.

In a 'normal' recovery scenario (e.g. Your server just died), you'd be better off just restoring the Apache config, the files in the Web directory and creating a new database from your dump.

I hope that makes sense?

Honestly if you can use snapshots or anything it'll make your life sooo much easier, but I get these are pricier on public clouds.
