A function that allows you to document switch ports like the rack would be cool.

So switch documentation port-based for devices & VLANs

Alan Yes, I can document the IP of the switch.

But I would like to document that my firewall is on port 1, my server is on port 2, etc

You know you can add interfaces to the asset after you've created it? Here's one I mocked up in the demo env.

    Oh!, havent realised that i can click on assets to see more informations…

    Ultimately, however, I think it only makes sense if you can create templates for assets. This function is not available either??

    I'd rather open each port and add a description than create 24 ports individually with a description.

    In the end, it's only a matter of 2-3 clicks more, but even that costs time in the long run if I assume that I want to document several switches at once

    @jonash

    The asset Detail Section will display tons of info related to the asset including tickets, documents, files etc

    There is also a similar "Secret" section for contacts as well which shows all related tickets, credentials, documents, assets etc

    Under Add Interface I could make a dropdown on the right of that button with a selection to define the amount of interfaces (ports) to add. This could save some real time. =]

      Hey johnny
      That sounds like a good solution.

      It would make my work much easier and replace my existing Excel lists for switch documentation.

      Thank you!

      Careful, then you want a relationship between the interface on the switch to the firewall asset, so you can click through to the next asset to see it's interfaces 🙂

      (I had to create a workbook with linked sheets and references for a client that had 40+ switches in a single building)
