Cant use Shell Commands

Hi all,

First of all, i do have to say that i like the basics of ITFlow!
At the company I work we use a payed piece of software, that is like the "evolved version", but for me who also runs a small business i really like ITFlow 👍️ .

Now my issue is, i got everything working within my Directadmin (Almalinux) server except ;

Shell Commands

Command 'whois' Not Found

Command 'dig' Not Found

Command 'git' Not Found

This, while i do have Git and Whois installed..

Does anyone have an idea?

Hey! Appreciate the positive feedback. Out of interest, what's the other 'evolved' software your company uses?

I'm terms of your issue, Direct admin probably blocks access to the php exec/shell exec functions by default. Take a look at this thread: https://forum.directadmin.com/threads/how-to-use-the-exec-function.15057/

It's a good move for security to disable shell exec by default, but ITFlow relies on dig and whois for grabbing domain info (there aren't great libraries in php for this). Git is used to pull the latest version of the app from Github.

Hi,

The evolved software is called "IT Portal". This i use for my full time job.

But with the current issue that i have, i do allow shell_exec and exec. (took me some time to do so, but it has the green checkmark.)

Great! You should now be able to add domains and use the in-app updater properly.

The php error log might contain more info. We generally try and encourage running ITFlow on it's own server to avoid issues with webpanels.

Yeah i do understand, i first selfhosted it at home, but my external DirectAdmin server is more reliable.

Your command issue may be your open_basedir setting in PHP not including the folders these packages sit in.

The logs you provided are SQL errors because the data was not collected due to not having whois/dig available to use.

Hi,

It took some time, but i got whois working (also in itflow) but yet still it shows that it cant find whois…

This script works, and also when i add a domain to itflow it works, whats going on?

Make sure your shell_exec has access to use the "which" command as this is what ITFlow uses to determine if it's available.

Given whois itself is working but ITFlow says it can't find it this is most likely what's happening
