  • Feature request - Custom asset status

I'm looking for a status just before ready to deploy. For example.
I just received a shipment of hardware that needs to be configured and is not yet ready to deploy, but i want to have them in the system for tracking. The ability to create a custom status would be great, similar to the custom ticket status.

Plus one for this request. I would also like an offline status. For instance, we have a Dell Server in our rack that is not configured and is offline.

Lets use this thread to come up with some good status fields, lets keep in simple not to many but ones that can work for everyone go

🔄 Lifecycle & Deployment

  • In Staging – Device is being configured or prepped before deployment.

  • Provisioning – Initial setup is in progress (e.g., imaging, software installs).

  • Pending Assignment – Ready, but not yet assigned to a user or department.

🧑‍💻 Operational Use

  • Loaned Out – Temporarily issued to a user, possibly outside normal assignments.

  • In Use (Non-Assigned) – Actively used but not tied to a specific person (e.g., lab equipment).

  • Field Use – Device is actively being used in fieldwork or remote locations.

🔧 Service & Maintenance

  • Under Maintenance – Currently being worked on internally (not sent out).

  • Awaiting Repair – Identified issue, waiting on parts or vendor support.

  • Diagnostic Mode – Being tested or observed for issues.

  • Quarantined – Suspected malware or policy violation, isolated from network.

📝 Tracking & Audit

  • Missing – Cannot be located but not confirmed lost/stolen yet.

  • Audit Pending – Flagged for an upcoming inventory or compliance check.

  • Do Not Use – Flagged for reasons such as compliance, licensing, or risk.

💤 Idle & Non-Active

  • Offline – (as you already have) Intentionally powered down.

  • Idle – Not in use, but ready to be used if needed.

  • Spare – Held in reserve, not assigned or in active rotation.

Woah that’s a lot and quite useful, can it be simplified a bit

🚀 Operational

  • Spare – Not assigned, held in reserve

  • Offline - Device is purposely shutdown or not in use

🔧 Service

  • Staging – In setup or prep phase

⚠️ Problem

  • Missing – Unaccounted for but not confirmed lost

  • Quarantined – Security concern or isolated

  • Do Not Use – Flagged for compliance or safety reasons
