Feature Request - Asset Tag Field

Is it possible to add another column under the asset section where I can add a customer asset tag number?

Hi @dhjdog this is what asset name field is for.

@Johnny - We have computers that incorporate the asset tag into the name. Our new computers (by policy) are named by deployment department and equipment type, separate from the asset tag.

It would be useful to be able to lookup by both.

That's how our naming convention is too. Also, since we are an MSP, we have asset tags that are added onto a PC to indicate if they are covered under our managed services. So the PC would have a PC name as well as an Asset Tag

What about using the Computer name or the description field for asset tag and the description field for the name or vice versa both are searchable. Trying not to add too many fields. The assets fields are getting to be little much as is.

We use the description field to help locate the device like "Nurses Station" or "Back Left Office"

You should use the physical location field for that as that is its intended purpose

Good point, the only other thing I've seen my team put in the description field is something like "Core Switch" or "Controller Device", but I can have them move that to the notes section. If we do that, is the notes section part of the search results?
