[Feature Request] Parts Billing in Tickets

We need the ability to add Parts to tickets and allow accounting to Invoice them before the ticket is completed and sent to billing. That is the only feature missing from this system that will prevent us from using it.

if by that you mean add products to the ticket's invoice (pc, screen, cables etc), that`s possible.

First you add the products in your domain/products.php and then in invoice, under the item if you start type the name of the product, will auto-suggest from the list, then select what you need, and it will auto complete the invoice row with product name, description and price, you only need to adjust the quantity.

That's currently how we do it as well.

no we need the technicians to be able to add the parts to the ticket, not the accounting user making the invoice.

we had customized our old osticket to do this, and currently we use CW Manage and it allows techs to add the parts before it goes to billing, we dont want the billing department to be reading the entire ticket to determine if a part needs to be added to an invoice.

I have to say, i did not tested yet the accounting aspects as technician, but i`m with you… technicians should be able to add parts to the invoice, as they dealing with the ticket aspects and will know what parts were needed.

I suppose we can adjust the role base permissions on the accounting aspects.

@wrongecho @johnny maybe we can do like this:

allow technician to add invoices but they should be able to do draft invoices only and leave the other aspects of the invoices (sending, set as recurring and so) for admin/accountant
admin/accountant should get notification that a new draft invoice has been posted, including the invoice url

In the time being you could make the techs have an admin role. In most small MSPs the tech also takes care of part of the billing. It creates a nice transparency and trust amongst the group
