Rack Diagram - Shelf items that are side by side

Hello everyone,

I was wondering how people are working around the situation on the client server rack documentation where there are items that are side by side on a server rack? Here are a couple photos for better explanation of what I'm dealing with on the bottom left:

We just picked up 3 new customers and they all had something similar to this. One had a NAS and a backup solution side by side, another had a firewall and pbx side by side.

wrongecho Haha, yeah, in ITFlow. I was thinking maybe left right? Or be able to set up two columns. Declare range - U15-19 two column. Then when placing an item, you select left then right?

I like the idea of columns. I think we could work with that. But yeah I have many clients like this too so I get ya. The way I am doing it currently is specifying other devices using the custom device field and selecting an asset

I can use that work around for now. I just really like that it links to the asset assigned to that U. Or is there a way to maybe do a link (I'm thinking HTML href) in the Customer Device that will allow it to still be link-able?

not currently, but i think i will make it so you can add many assets per unit in the future.

Currently we split the RU allocation, ie, if both are 4RU, they get 2RU each. Combined with being able to have a photo next to the layout usually makes it easy enough.

However, I could easily see a situation where there is more than one item in a single RU, especially the rack mount kits that allow 2-3 pieces of equipment into a single RU.

Similar situation for the front vs rear of the rack. In that case, if necessary, you have two "racks" setup.
