I just found this behavior that I wasn't aware of. I have been blaming missing items in ITFlow on forgetfullness but today I realized what must be happening. I had one set of client credentials that I simply could not find and jumped through the normal hoops to reset and then document. I started the process to add the credentials and then took a client phone call. When I went back to ITFlow the credentials were not there. Now knowing for sure that I started the process, I thought I was going crazy. I started it again and got interrupted a second time. This time I could see the half filled out modal but when I went to click to put the browser back in focus to continue, the modal disappeared along with what I had filled in. It seems that you must click on the modal to get the browser back in focus to continue otherwise you lose what you started and like me, may forget and think that you completed it. This is especially important if you are a mouse fidgeter like me when I am on a call.

I think this has come up before and the consensus was that we preferred it so you can click out of a modal easily by clicking anywhere on the page. As far as I know, ITFlow has always been this way.

I don't think it's realistic to half complete a modal, go onto something else and then come back to that modal and the data still be there. That would be a complete nightmare to maintain. Just open a new tab?

wrongecho In my particular case, I wasn't going off and doing something else in ITFlow expecting to go back to the half completed credential modal. I was in the middle of entering a new credential and then needed to take a client call. During that call, I moved the mouse to a secondary monitor to remotely connect to assist the client. When completed, I went to finish entering the credential on the original screen and I clicked on the browser window but not specifically on the modal which made it close and losing the info. Now that I recognize the behavior I can be more careful but I can guarantee that it will happen to me again. I guess if possible, a message asking for confirmation before closing that modal without saving would be helpful.

Usually if you re-open the same item creation modal (+NEW XYZ) before doing anything else, the data would still be there. I don't think this works for edit modals though.

I do get your general point on modals closing if you click outside them. Perhaps requiring them to be closed using the 'Cancel' button at the bottom is something we could make configurable - if there is more interest.

Yeah I agree I think they should only be closed by clicking the X or Cancel, ill look into this one
