Is it in plan to make a more robust inventory solution?

Was thinking about this.

In my case under the assets can a field be added so we can link the asset to an external tool\application?

Just a simple URL?

In my case I have started experimenting with TacticalRMM and MeshCentral. Would love to be able to add a hyperlink between the applications.

    Point taken - your right

    Hi @Bigbug

    so basically:

Just add a stock field to products

Then when you create an invoice for a client and choose the product as an invoice item it would subtract from the product stock when save is hit?

Is this the behavior you would want to see @Bigbug

@JohnH This feature has been implemented recently asset uri enjoy

      Hi johnny
I thought of an IMS (inventory management system) kind of thing…
look here I wrote about some functionality of an IMS system I thought of.
just curious.. aren't you guys doing that? buying stocks of PCs, Monitors, Cables, etc. and selling it as part of your service?

      Thanks 🙏

      Gotchya,

As an MSP we do not resell, strictly service. Clients purchase directly through vendors then have it shipped to us for testing and configuration then we bring it onsite to install or ship it back to them for install, depending on what the equipment is. This has eliminated the tax accounting burdens and inventory.

But deff know what you mean, this prolly wont happen till after 1.0 which is you heard it first Jan 1 2024 New Years

Ok johnny we were not on the same page.. haha..

The way I deal with that is - for example - purchase a stock of 70 Dell desktops for wholesale price and then I resell it for regular market price.
No, I'm not focused on doing retail, but the main reason I'm doing that is that I should always have immediately available for the client in need.

What do you do if customers cable/PC/printer/router etc. breaks, and you need a new one for the customer immediately?

Well I should recap we do keep a few items such as extra cables, couple of tiny dell PCs, EdgeRouters,, Ubiquiti APs few extra Hard Drives, an extra synology but rarely have to use them. Usually everything is planned, and if there is an emergency then we have it if need be.

We do similar, we have a stock of loan equipment (switches etc) and peripherals (cables etc).

If the customer wants something we provide a quote and (unless servers, switches etc) we know we are un-competitive - we don't have the buying power to get the discounts distributers provide to retailers.

For servers, managed switches and other corp\enterprise level equipment though we are more competitive. Ironically we have a couple of customers that effectively engage us to help them buy equipment (i.e. go through quotes and options from retailers).

When I buy from Dell a stock of 50+ let's say sff optiplex 5000 i5 12th Gen 8gb ram and a 2-3 year premium warranty, I get it for so cheap that I can put up around 400 bucks on each unit and still compete with market price.

The main equipment I'm buying in bulk are PCs, monitors, and cables.

Hi, if you can please add a barcode field in products.

        thanks.

        Hi @Bigbug

Im trying to understand your use case scenario for barcodes under products, please elaborate how and where this would be used and implemented within ITFlow, so we may possibly implement.

I have inventory to sell at my office like PCs, monitors, cables, etc. so if I sell an item to a customer - when in the quote/invoice - I should be able to just scan the item (with a barcode scanner) and it'll be up there

Also (a different feature…) some products have serial numbers - for example computers - and when they're sold the serial number has to be specified so if you could also add a field which would be created dynamically, up to the quantity of the product. and in the invoice (only) when I scan a computer barcode to put into the invoice it should prompt me to lookup/enter the serial number of the computer I'm selling.

for an example: if I have a stock of 15 computers then it should only let me put in 15 serial numbers

Thanks again for your hard work!

I see good idea but more likely after 1.0 but will add to the list

johnny changed the title to Inventory Management System .

barcode implementation could open ITFlow to new area like customers card with code connected to customer id, adding/editing and selling inventory items/products via scan, creating own serial numbers for PC/Assets for easier managing and servicing. It is great idea and im looking forward to it 🙂
