Call to undefined function PhpMimeMailParser\mailparse_msg_create()

Hey there,

I'm running into the following when running the mail parse cron automatically or manually.

Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function PhpMimeMailParser\mailparse_msg_create()

I have confirmed that the server has the requisite PHP extensions and that it can otherwise generate email.

This has happened on an instance installed by Yunohost, manually on HestiaCP (I also added two steps to docs for that), and on a brand new RunCloud.io system.

Any recommendations around this would be appreciated.

Do you definitely, 100%, have the php-mailparse extension installed and enabled? If you go to settings > Debug > PHP Modules Installed, it's in that list?

Hello there,

Thanks for the reply. I can confirm that php-mailparse is installed/enabled via the debug menu.

When I first visited the debug page, it was completely blank with no errors in console. I dug into logs and found that 'exec' was disabled. After enabling that, I now see a little more detail.

I did find that shell_exec needed to be enabled with the update, but I'm still running into the same PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function PhpMimeMailParser\mailparse_msg_create() error.

Odd, this error is always usually extension related. A final check would be running php -m | grep mailparse at the cli.

I'll try 8.2 and maybe lower..

It's somehow seemingly possible to have different CLI and Apache versions of php. Might be why the Cron / manual calls fail, but debug says the extension is there.

Right-on!

I found that HestiaCP's CLI PHP version only went to 8.2, but the apps are running on 8.3.

After enabling shell_exec and exec, I was able to confirm more info in the Debug screen.

Running apt-get install php8.2-mailparse installed it on that version and I am able to confirm it is listed as available.
