Crontab not installing and Email issue

This is our first time trying ITFlow. We're excited to use it in our work. I apologize about any confusion as I'm not well versed in Linux.

We have been trying to resolve an email not sending error and in the process was trying to edit the crontab for more verbose error messages. Following https://docs.itflow.org/cron I was not sure where to edit these values and changed them at /etc/cron.d/itflow. After not seeing any change and viewing other discussions I regenerated a new cron key and installed the new keys with the full line of command using crontab -e.

Going to our website at /cron_mail_queue.php, it states Cron Key is invalid.

Hey. Your cron setup seems fine.

The mail queue error in the second screenshot states "Could not connect to SMTP host. Connection failed.", but the rest of the error seems to be cut off.

As you've directed the mail queue output to logger you should be able to grep syslog for 'itflow' and find the full error. I assume it would say about an SSL error, so you probably need to check the SMTP settings in Admin Settings > Mail

Does ITFlow support sending emails without encryption? The email we are currently using does not have SSL yet.

I believe emails without encryption should be fine?

Try using grep itflow /var/log/syslog

Also after sending another test nothing new appears in audit logs nor did I get an email.

Ah, I have no idea how to use grep with journalctl. Try journalctl -f or journalctl -n 50 instead.

Thank you so much journalctl -f worked. The issue with the email was that it was not the correct host name for the mail server and I'm now receiving test emails.

I did however have to change the cron key at /etc/cron.d/itflow to get it working even through it said installing new crontab using crobtab -e. Not sure if I'm just doing it wrong or what.

We have the old cron scripts in the root directory that will be shortly retired, and the new cron scripts in /scripts/. The new scripts shouldn't require a cron key.
