The concept of leads was added to the project back in 2023. It hasn't really changed much since it was added:
I've actually grown to like the feature since we merged it into the main clients view as a filter. I primarily use it as a way to separate out paying / not-yet-paying clients, with onboarding being tracked via a ticket. As that pull request suggests though, we don't have much interest in becoming a end-to-end CRM/sales pipeline system. That said, you can now add individual timestamped notes to contacts much in the way many CRMs allow, so if you wanted to track quick interactions with leads prior to sales that may work.
