You were around 2 months behind on updates so there were a fair few to apply. Typically you'd only need to hit the update database button a couple of times if you were updating weekly or so. (We have had lots of PRs lately from @psiiota too!).
I think I mentioned before but you should really make a conscious effort to not fall behind on updates. The files downloaded when you click update app are the latest but you have to incrementally cycle through the database updates. If you're too far behind, the files will reference things that don't exist and could break the database updates.
Each database update represents different schema changes. I think it's easier to troubleshoot/manually fix if things happen incrementally when you click the button than having to try and work out which of the last 21 database related commits broke your install/db/updater.
