Asset Tag Support

We utilize barcoded asset tags on all of our managed equipment for easy customer identification when working with our support team. Up to this point we've been tracking this in the serial number data-entry on assets.

It would be awesome to have a dedicated place in assets for their asset tags, because we are running into situations where having the actual serial in the serial spot makes more sense (as with anything you try to use in unintended ways.)

Hi @ApexityIT the name field should be used for the asset tag

It might make sense to just rename name to asset-tag

Our asset tags are nothing like the device names:

Example

CCRC-01-UAP01 has asset tag APX23038

Just by reading the name we know the customer, site, and what it is. But the asset tag doesn't have any meaning.

Our techs know the device names, but the customers don't. Customers can easily read off an asset tag, but wouldn't know device names. Thats the need to link them separately.
