Proper way to restore DB and Master key

Im currently working on ubuntu 22 and with the latest updates as of 6/27/24.

im able to export the SQL and Master Key

on a new clean VM with ubuntu 24

using the Itflow script to install

and phpmyadmin

im able to restore the SQL using phpmyadmin but data still not showing ( and im sure this is the part im doing wrong)

I had input the "master key" on the setup file as mention on some posts but still no able to see the data

looking at the DB wuth phpmyadmin i do see the info is there but Itflow does not populate any of the info

ex clients, users, mail info

any info would be greatly appreciated

Hey there @opensourcefollower,

The best way to manage ITFlow backups is via full VM snapshots/backups: Please check over https://docs.itflow.org/backups

If you do need to restore your instance using the files & database, you just need to restore both and adjust config.php to point to the new SQL database. Once the app is able to connect to the database, everything should function as expected.

Note: You don't need to edit the setup file with the master key; you shouldn't be going through the setup anyway for a restore operation. Your database backup contains all your data including an encrypted copy of the master key. You only really need the master key if you're manually decrypting the entries (see this example code).

i will redo my steps and just restore the files and db again without continuing the initial setup

is it possible to just transfer users and contacts?

If you wanted to transfer contacts I'd recommend you perform a fresh install and then restore/insert just the relevant records into the 'Contacts' table.

Note you can also import a CSV of Contacts per client.

I wouldn't recommend restoring ITFlow users - just recreate them.

I was able to move the clients and tickets but I believe the recurring tickets are not working.

Able to create recurring tickets and save details etc.
not able to see the detail of the recurring tickets once created

dont know if the error is being caused by the php file or on the sql table
